About the position

OpTech LLC is seeking a Product Owner for Banking/Financial Systems to join our team on a W-2 contract basis. This role is pivotal in ensuring that assigned products are relevant, effectively marketed, and managed to provide a positive customer experience while maintaining sound infrastructure and integrity levels. The Product Owner will be responsible for the management of assigned products, which includes conducting market research, performing financial analysis, and overseeing product planning, development, and implementation. Additionally, the role involves coordinating sales and marketing strategies, objectives, and programs to enhance product profitability and customer satisfaction. The Product Owner will typically manage two or more complex products with minimal oversight. Key responsibilities include serving as a market expert for assigned products through extensive research and customer interactions, defining market problems, and developing strategic solutions. This includes creating product roadmaps, assessing profitability, pricing, and positioning, and ensuring that the solutions developed align with customer needs and market demands. The role also requires monitoring product life cycles, recommending pricing and marketing strategies, and measuring product success to communicate results effectively. In addition to product management, the Product Owner will engage in product promotion and advocacy, creating market messages, developing training materials, and conducting training sessions as necessary. Continuous evaluation of economic conditions and their impact on assigned products is essential, as is ensuring competitive positioning and integration into sales planning. The Product Owner will also be responsible for researching market opportunities, defining market problems, and collaborating with operations to ensure product stability and address any production issues that may arise.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a market expert for assigned product(s) through research and customer interactions.
  • Define market problems by gathering and analyzing market and customer information.
  • Develop solutions through strategic planning, including product roadmap and business plan development.
  • Manage products, monitor product life cycle, and recommend pricing and marketing strategies.
  • Create and own assigned product's market message and participate in marketing program development.
  • Continuously evaluate current economic conditions and advise management on impacts to assigned products.
  • Research and define market problems for assigned product(s) and investigate market opportunities.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure product stability and efficient issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Product Owner in the Banking or Financial Industry.
  • Hands-on experience supporting business requirements for payment/treasury management/fraud products.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise between business lines and Agile delivery teams.
  • Experience supporting product backlogs, creating user stories, and acceptance criteria.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards.
