About the position

We are seeking a strategic and tactical leader for the role of Product Owner and Business Analyst in Houston, who will work onsite at our client’s location. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of leadership experience in large companies, particularly in private enterprises with annual revenues exceeding $500 million. This role requires a professional who can deliver solutions for unique data sets, utilizing data analytics to influence critical decisions, mitigate risks, and develop processes for nationwide transportation and distribution. The candidate will work across multidisciplinary teams, which can include up to 12 members, and must be adept in Scrum and agile methodologies for both software and data engineering projects. The successful candidate will possess a diverse background in data, software, and data science, demonstrating cross-functional leadership capabilities. They will be responsible for building consensus among diverse stakeholders by simplifying complex problems and translating business concepts into architectural frameworks. The role involves partnering with both business and technical teams to prioritize tasks effectively. The candidate should have substantial business and data analysis experience, with the ability to synthesize large data sets, mine data from various sources, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop appropriate testing methodologies while communicating actionable recommendations. The position requires familiarity with data engineering, architecture, data lakes, AI, big data, and various technologies including ELT, Python, Airflow, Azure, and Amazon Web Services. The candidate should also have experience with database management systems and data integration technologies such as Redshift, SQL, and ETL processes. Knowledge of enterprise analytics and reporting design tools like Azure DevOps, Power BI, Tableau, and SAS is essential. The methodologies and concepts relevant to this role include data architecture, data wrangling, OLTP, agile, Scrum, SDLC, machine learning, and data warehousing. The candidate should also have experience in developing and maintaining legacy MVC applications as well as modern applications using microservices architecture. The role also requires skills in stakeholder elicitation, use cases, test cases, user stories, user acceptance testing, and change management. Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and frameworks such as Agile, Scrum, and SaFE (Scaled Agile Framework) is a plus. This position offers a competitive salary range of $135,000 to $165,000, along with excellent benefits and bonuses. Additionally, there is an option for contract work if preferred.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in large companies, particularly in private enterprises with over $500 million in annual revenue.
  • Experience in data engineering, architecture, and data lakes.
  • Proficiency in AI, big data, ELT, Python, Airflow, Azure, and AWS.
  • Strong background in database management systems including SQL, Redshift, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with enterprise analytics/reporting design tools such as Azure DevOps, Power BI, and SAS.
  • Familiarity with methodologies such as data architecture, data wrangling, OLTP, agile, and Scrum.
  • Ability to develop and maintain both legacy and modern applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SaFE).
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages such as C#, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
