About the position

As a Product Owner in J. J. Keller's Managed Services area, you will serve as a key member of the product management team, responsible for driving the effectiveness of agile team(s) to complete outstanding requirements through preparedness and subject matter expertise. The product owner is responsible for carrying out the near-term vision and roadmap. The product owner defines the ‘what', tells impactful stories, and prioritizes the team backlog to streamline the execution of product priorities, while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of the features and components the team is responsible for. In this role, you are the source of truth for the development team on priorities, disruptors, and ultimate acceptance of sprint items. This NEW Product Owner position will work closely with a newly created Development team of Data Engineers, Data Architects, and Analysts, along with offshore resources to support existing data/reporting for automation initiatives within our Managed Services area. Our clients partner with J. J. Keller® Managed Services to relieve their organization of time-consuming compliance management and recordkeeping for their drivers, vehicles, and employees. By partnering with us, our clients have more time to focus on their day-to-day operations. This role can work 100% remote in the US, on-site at our Corporate Campus in Neenah, WI, or hybrid. Our organization is over 80% remote, so you can join and be part of a remote-first team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, prioritize, and sequence the product backlog according to business value or ROI.
  • Assist with the elaboration of epics, themes, and features into user stories that are granular enough to be achieved in a single sprint.
  • Work with product analysts on full preparation of PBIs that equate to targeted sprint scope.
  • Effectively verify and validate requirements; ensure that all requirements support the delivery of business value, fulfill goals and objectives, and meet a stakeholder need.
  • Convey the vision and goals at the beginning of every release and sprint.
  • Work with the development resources and QA resource to facilitate meaningful testing with the goal of ultimate acceptance.
  • Represent the customer to the development team.
  • Participate in the daily scrums, sprint planning, release planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Inspect the product progress at the end of every sprint and have complete authority to accept or reject work.
  • Work with Dev Manager if a sprint is determined that a disruption or material change in direction is required within a sprint/epic.
  • Maintain relationships with the business and client to understand current and changing needs.
  • Actively involved in activities to support general availability of released items.
  • Serve as primary point person internally and externally for the team for updates and feedback.
  • Complete high-level designs for material epic level features, partnering with product manager and UI/UX.
  • Identify and maintain the metrics/reporting needed to support the assigned product area.
  • Prepare and update documentation to include functional specifications, testing procedures, end user documentation, etc.
  • Prepare and conduct end-user or business user training.
  • Prepare and participate in requirements and process documentation for products, systems, and processes.

Requirements

  • 3 years' experience in a product analyst/product owner role with proven experience driving agile teams with product requirements.
  • Report writing/query tools experience with SQL or PowerBI.
  • Project leadership experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business-related field. In lieu of degree, will consider an additional 4 years of directly related experience.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to quickly develop an in-depth knowledge and understand the relationship between opportunities, business needs and J. J. Keller capabilities for product/service/system delivery.
  • Intellectually curious with a desire to become a proven SME in product areas assigned.
  • Technical aptitude with an understanding of systems and data flow.
  • Ability to communicate and document technical and or regulatory needs to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects with a strong attention to detail and deadlines.
