About the position

Knowledge Services is seeking a Product Owner/Project Manager for a 6-month contract-to-hire position in Indianapolis, IN. The role focuses on managing and optimizing Atlassian tools, particularly Jira and Confluence, while integrating them with other products like Smartsheet and GitHub. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies, ensuring effective tool usage across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner and administrator for Atlassian tools, particularly Jira and Confluence.
  • Determine the overall strategy and vision of the Atlassian products and decide on product features based on end users' needs and preferences.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align tool usage with project goals and business needs.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of Atlassian tools and workflows and recommend enhancements or changes as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure effective use of Atlassian tools in both Agile and Waterfall project environments.
  • Develop and maintain Jira and Smartsheet reports, dashboards, and workflows to support project tracking and operational efficiency.
  • Manage integrations between Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence) and other platforms, including Smartsheet, GitLab, and GitHub.
  • Provide user training, support, and troubleshooting for Atlassian tools and integrations.
  • Stay up-to-date with new features, updates, and best practices within the Atlassian ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Service or Product Owner/Administrator of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Proven experience in building and maintaining reports and dashboards within Jira.
  • Strong understanding of Smartsheet and experience in integrating it with Atlassian products.
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues within Atlassian tools and integrations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.
  • Ability to train and guide users in maximizing the potential of Atlassian tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Atlassian certifications such as Jira Administrator, Jira Project Administrator, or Confluence Administrator.
  • Experience with other development platforms such as GitLab or GitHub.
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation in Atlassian products (e.g., using Jira Automation, ScriptRunner, etc.).
