About the position

The Product Owner role at Wisestep-Inc is a pivotal position that requires a deep understanding of the Transportation, Retail, and Distribution domains. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to comprehend their business process requirements and assist them with enhancement requests for ServiceNow. This role involves authoring features and user stories with detailed acceptance criteria that address the business problems faced by stakeholders. The Product Owner will collaborate with delivery teams and business analysts to translate these business requirements into a workable product backlog, ensuring that the development team has a clear understanding of what needs to be built. In addition to managing the product backlog, the Product Owner will partner closely with Scrum Masters and Project Managers during sprint planning. This includes prioritizing stories that deliver the highest business value and align with enterprise standards and business roadmaps. The role requires effective collaboration with team members, business stakeholders, and leadership to resolve issues and ensure that the solutions developed meet the needs of the business. The Product Owner will also be responsible for determining the scope of work, estimating effort, and defining the duration of development activities. The position demands a strong focus on designing solutions that meet business requirements, working in close coordination with architects and delivery leads to drive these solutions to production. The Product Owner will own and update sprint goals, collaborate with the agile team to prepare estimates for user stories, and conduct formal reviews and acceptance of user stories implemented by the agile team within a sprint. Additionally, the role involves driving user acceptance testing (UAT) activities with support from both business and technology team members, providing daily support to the application and product platform, and maintaining a deep understanding of the current and future capabilities of the ServiceNow platform. A commitment to continuous process improvement and participation in team planning and activities to enhance skills, knowledge, and quality of work is essential. The Product Owner must also understand and adhere to the company's Mission Statement and Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to understand their business process requirements and assist with enhancement requests for ServiceNow.
  • Author features and stories with detailed acceptance criteria for enhancement requests on ServiceNow.
  • Translate business requirements into workable product backlogs in collaboration with delivery teams and business analysts.
  • Partner with Scrum Masters and Project Managers on sprint planning, prioritizing stories that deliver the highest business value.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, business stakeholders, and leadership to resolve issues.
  • Understand enterprise IT processes and work closely with stakeholders to identify appropriate solutions to business problems.
  • Determine scope, estimate work effort, and define the duration of development activities.
  • Design solutions to meet business requirements in coordination with architects and delivery leads.
  • Own and update sprint goals and work with the Director of Product.
  • Collaborate with the agile team to prepare estimates for user stories within the product backlog.
  • Conduct formal review and acceptance of user stories implemented by the agile team within a sprint.
  • Drive execution of user acceptance testing (UAT) activities with support from business and technology team members.
  • Provide daily support to the application/product platform, including integrations and administration.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the ServiceNow platform's current and future capabilities.
  • Commit to continuous process improvement and participate in team planning and activities for improving skills, knowledge, and quality of work.

Requirements

  • Experience in the Transportation, Retail, or Distribution domain.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow and its capabilities.
  • Proven experience in writing user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in agile methodologies and working with Scrum teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
