About the position

As a Product Owner, you will play a crucial role in the development and management of our Transmission & Distribution Automation and Control Software. This position is based in Dallas, TX, and requires a deep understanding of customer needs, which you will translate into both functional and non-functional technical requirements. You will collaborate closely with various internal teams, including developers, engineers, architects, and quality assurance, as well as business operations teams such as product marketing managers and business analysts. Your ability to ensure that requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans align with expectations will be key to your success in this role. In addition to requirement gathering, you will be responsible for researching and following technical trends within the industry, conducting competitor analysis, and providing training to both internal teams and customers on how to effectively use the product. You will also be the go-to person for answering questions about the product and its capabilities, supporting the Sales & Marketing teams in their efforts. Assessing and documenting technical risks in collaboration with architecture and product development teams will be part of your responsibilities, as will serving as a product evangelist and subject matter expert within the technical and developer community. You will coordinate beta tests, define success criteria for testing and product acceptance, and facilitate the creation and maintenance of comprehensive product documentation. Additionally, you will lead technical pre-sales activities and conduct product/solution demonstrations to support the sales and marketing teams. This role requires a proactive approach to product management and a strong commitment to understanding and meeting customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into technical product requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams including developers, engineers, architects, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations.
  • Research and follow technical trends in the industry and conduct competitor analysis.
  • Provide internal and customer training on product usage.
  • Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities to support Sales & Marketing teams.
  • Assess, document, and address technical risks in collaboration with architecture and product development teams.
  • Serve as a product evangelist and subject matter expert to the technical/developer community.
  • Coordinate beta tests and define success criteria for testing and product acceptance.
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation.
  • Lead technical pre-sales activities and conduct product/solution demos supporting sales & marketing team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of Product Engineering/Technical Product Management experience (3+ years with a master's degree) in Power Transmission & Distribution System Automation & Control Software Domain.
  • Agile-based SDLC experience with enterprise-level environments for 5+ years.
  • 4 years' experience as a Product Owner.
  • 2 years' experience in Scrum, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Experience in requirements gathering and aggregation.
  • Experience in digital/software solutions for the Electrical Power Transmission & Distribution Industry.
  • Scripting/Programming skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile methodologies (1 year preferred).
  • Ability to commute to Dallas, TX 75201 (preferred).
  • Willingness to relocate to Dallas, TX 75201 before starting work (preferred).
