About the position

As a Product Owner at ChangeIs, you will play a pivotal role in our Agile Product Team, focusing on delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges. This position is primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings in Oklahoma City, and requires a government security clearance and background check for employment. You will be responsible for defining user stories and prioritizing the team backlog, ensuring that the team's priorities are aligned with strategic objectives while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of features and components. Your role is critical in maintaining quality control, as you will have the authority to approve stories as completed. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product management and stakeholders to develop user stories that align with strategic priorities. You will provide subject matter expertise to articulate the product vision and ensure that the development team understands the user stories. Your responsibilities will include refining and prioritizing backlog items in alignment with iteration objectives, validating story acceptance criteria, and keeping product management informed on story status to align delivery expectations. You will also assist in estimation efforts, lead sprint planning, and identify dependencies, trade-offs, and risk mitigation within the team backlog. Participation in Program Increment Planning (PIP) meetings is essential, where you will collaborate with Product Management to prepare for these sessions, draft team objectives, and define features. Additionally, you will work with the team to produce PIP demos and present them to stakeholders, ensuring that the product vision is effectively communicated and understood.

Responsibilities

  • Develop user stories in collaboration with product management and stakeholders to align with strategic priorities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to articulate product vision and user stories to ensure team understanding.
  • Collaborate with the development team to refine and prioritize backlog items aligned with Iteration objectives.
  • Validate story acceptance criteria to ensure quality and approve stories as complete.
  • Keep product management informed on story status to align delivery expectations and prioritize team backlog.
  • Assist in estimation efforts with the team.
  • Lead sprint planning sequencing and identify dependencies, trade-offs, and risk mitigation within the team backlog.
  • Participate in and facilitate Program Increment Planning (PIP) meetings, collaborating with Product Management in preparing for these sessions.
  • Draft team objectives and define features for Program Increment sessions.
  • Collaborate with the team to produce PIP demos and present them to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree with at least 3 years of experience in writing business and functional requirements.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies implementation.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development life cycles and DevOps principles.
  • Strong written, verbal, and diagrammatic communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface and collaborate with clients, peers, and management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Proficiency in Jira, Miro, and Trello.
  • Ability to use Confluence, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred experience with GitHub and Red Hat Open Shift platform.
