About the position

Switchfly is seeking a talented and motivated Product Owner to join our team and support one of our high-profile clients in the travel industry. The role involves surveying industry trends and synthesizing them into features and user stories, working closely with senior leaders, development teams, and clients to define roadmaps and translate them into product backlogs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data-driven decision-making and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with internal and external stakeholders to analyze needs and align product roadmap with strategic goals.
  • Define business goals and create testable hypotheses for the business impact of new features.
  • Assess value of new work and effectively prioritize features to align with business strategy.
  • Work within an agile team to translate business requirements into actionable user stories.
  • Regularly report on development status and challenges to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively mitigate risks to project success.
  • Gather metrics and analyze real-world impact of features vs. initial hypotheses.
  • Evangelize the product to customers and the wider industry.
  • Manage the product backlog and prioritize work effectively.
  • Participate in all agile ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and various other stakeholders including Analytics, design and User experience, engineering and product implementation teams.
  • Demonstrate the development team's work to the client and internal leadership team.
  • Lead the analysis and design of production function based on the knowledge of industry and technology.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of product owner experience.
  • 2+ years working directly with clients.
  • Track record of using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and drive decision-making.
  • Metrics-driven: Strong analytical and synthesis skills are a must, including the ability to absorb and process large amounts of data into actionable information.
  • Experience with best practice agile and lean principles.
  • Curious and comfortable holding professional conversations with our target buyers and users.
  • Must be a strong writer and public speaker in front of large, senior groups.
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties.
  • Travel Industry experience is a plus.
