About the position

The Product Owner at SILAC Insurance Company is responsible for establishing, detailing, prioritizing, and evaluating the work generated by the business for their dedicated scrum team. This role ensures that the features and functionality of the product align with business needs, assisting the Sprint Team, Scrum Master, and Technical Lead in defining requirements. The Product Owner will engage in process management, user story development, team backlog maintenance, collaboration with various stakeholders, and communication of project status and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist business teams and cross-competency teams in completing tasks related to application design, including requirements definition and analysis.
• Coordinate and document detailed descriptions of user needs and program functions for business systems.
• Build, edit, and maintain the sprint team backlog, including new features and system maintenance.
• Collaborate with business representatives to develop User Stories with necessary requirements for business solutions.
• Communicate priorities, opportunity costs, and project status to stakeholders.
• Attend daily team stand-ups and assist with determining priorities and addressing blockers.
• Work with QA, developers, and stakeholders to create acceptance criteria and testing plans.
• Facilitate UAT demos and testing sign-off with stakeholders and end users.
• Take initiative for assigned work and provide regular updates to management.
• Act as a source of knowledge and insight into the agile process and suggest improvements.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a related area and/or equivalent 2-4 years' experience in a related area.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse business customers and drive consensus.
• Experience documenting customer requirements and transforming them into services.
• Ability to analyze data and recommend potential solutions.
• Knowledge of agile and scrum methodology, with certification preferred.
• Experience with Jira and other tools such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint.
• Customer relationship management experience.
• General knowledge of software development tools and terminology.
• Knowledge of insurance products and experience with insurance company operations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as a Scrum Master and/or Subject Matter Expert.
• Advanced Product Owner Certification.
• Proven history of prioritizing multiple high visibility projects simultaneously.
• Confidence in navigating rapid changes in work type and delivery expectations.
