About the position

As a Product Owner for the Public Risk Group at Tokio Marine HCC, you will play a pivotal role in managing a portfolio of technology platforms that are essential for supporting our municipal entity customers. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the growth and utilization of these platforms, ensuring that they deliver new and improved solutions that enhance user experiences and provide value across various functional teams. This position requires a strategic mindset as you will be tasked with developing and maintaining the roadmap for your platforms, particularly as the Public Risk Group embarks on a significant modernization initiative. In this role, you will collaborate closely with business teams to analyze and document the current functionality of systems, identifying necessary changes that will lead to desired business outcomes. You will work alongside technology teams to lead Agile teams in building, testing, and delivering these changes, ensuring that the targeted benefits are realized in a timely manner. Your ability to manage key customer relationships, including interactions with Chief Information Officers and Vice Presidents, will be crucial in this position. You will also be expected to facilitate efficient project collaboration by acting as a liaison between technical teams and customers, running Agile ceremonies, and serving as a subject-matter expert for the applications and systems you oversee. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor less experienced Product Owners and Business Systems Analysts, contributing to the development of a Business Analysis Center of Excellence within the organization. This role requires a high degree of independence, as you will operate with minimal managerial direction and participate in application steering committees to guide project direction and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage key customer relationships at all levels, including Chief Information Officers and Vice Presidents.
  • Drive efficient project collaboration by brokering communication between technical teams and customers.
  • Run Agile ceremonies and workshops for requirements elaboration.
  • Serve as subject-matter expert (SME) for all appointed applications and systems.
  • Steward Business Analysis (BA) Center of Excellence with associated best practices and project artifacts.
  • Mentor less experienced Product Owners and Business Systems Analysts (BAs).
  • Operate independently with minimal managerial direction.
  • Participate in application steering committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant and progressive professional experience in software development and support.
  • Familiarity with insurance and/or financial services industries and technology practices/systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
