About the position

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Product Performance Manager for our Western New York region to join our team. This position is located in the Rochester / Pavilion, NY area. Heidelberg Materials provides the materials to build our future, focusing on sustainability and digital advancements. The company operates more than 450 locations with approximately 9,000 employees in the U.S. and Canada. The Product Performance Manager will play a crucial role in leading the improvement of profitability across three product lines: readymix concrete, hotmix asphalt, and recycled aggregates. This role involves leveraging opportunities to present innovative solutions aimed at carbon reduction and promoting circularity within the construction industry. The successful candidate will implement a comprehensive quality assurance program to ensure customer satisfaction through high-quality products that meet compliance standards and customer needs. The Product Performance Manager will oversee multiple departments, including the Product Performance department, Sustainable Products department, RMC QC department, and HMA & AGG QC department. Collaboration with the Commercial Manager, RMC Operations Manager, and AGG & HMA Operations Manager is essential to shape and execute the company's strategic plan under the leadership of the General Manager WNY. Additionally, the role includes providing technical product training, marketing assistance, and actively participating in local and national professional associations. The development and implementation of the WNY Technical Business Plan will also be a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in improving profitability of all three product lines via a progressive product portfolio and leading-edge technical services.
  • Leverage opportunities to present progressive solutions in readymix concrete, hotmix asphalt, and recycled aggregates for carbon reduction and circularity in the construction industry.
  • Implement a comprehensive quality assurance program ensuring customer satisfaction from high-quality products that meet compliance, standards, and customer needs every day.
  • Oversee the Product Performance department, the Sustainable Products department, the RMC QC department, and the HMA & AGG QC department.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Manager, the RMC Operations Manager, and the AGG & HMA Operations Manager to shape and execute the company's strategic plan under the leadership of the General Manager WNY.
  • Provide technical product training, promotion, and marketing assistance to customers, specifiers, and the internal sales team.
  • Actively participate in local and national professional associations.
  • Develop and implement the WNY Technical Business Plan.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Master's or graduate degree is a plus.
  • Held management role in Technical/Quality Control in Heavy Building Materials industry or in similar/relatable field (Materials Engineer) for 3+ years.
  • Excellent RMC, HMA, and AGG market awareness and production knowledge.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a high sense of ownership.
  • Good general business awareness and deep P&L understanding.
  • Excellent construction material commercial knowledge from customer facing roles.
  • Technical experience with evidence of success in a customer facing role.
  • Quality assurance or similar experience.
  • Highly driven, self-motivated, and reliable.
  • Translate strategic direction into medium- and long-term plans and objectives; take ownership for the execution of strategic plans.
  • Collaborate across internal and external boundaries to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes in the interest of organizational objectives over functional objectives.
