About the position

The Product Steward role at BASF Corporation in Wyandotte, MI, is focused on ensuring compliance with product regulations and safe handling practices while supporting the company's commitment to sustainability in the Performance Materials division. This position involves collaboration with various teams to manage product changes, respond to inquiries, and assist in product development processes, contributing to a sustainable future in the plastics industry.

Responsibilities

  • Responding promptly to internal stakeholders and external customers seeking product regulatory and safe handling information.
  • Collaborating with the Product Stewardship Manager and interfacing with teams such as Product Regulations, Toxicology, Product Management, Site EHS, Marketing, Sales, R&D, Technical, Legal Counsel, and global counterparts.
  • Managing change reviews for product regulations, GHS hazards, new products, medical devices, Product Risk Characterization, Strategic EHS Forecasts, and R&D projects.
  • Assisting with Supplier Quality projects, including the Production Part Approval Process, supplier quality agreements, and process capability studies.
  • Providing thoughtful support to customers regarding EHS topics.
  • Collaborating with teams to assess the impact of product changes and regulatory requirements on products, markets, and customers.
  • Engaging in the product development process to offer guidance on regulatory and stewardship matters.
  • Developing presentations and cross-referencing multiple data sets using Microsoft Office.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Industrial Health, Toxicology, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, or Product Stewardship.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Product Stewardship, Regulatory Affairs, Industrial Hygiene, Polymer Materials, or Toxicology.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and technical concepts, with the ability to read and interpret regulations effectively.
  • Exhibit proficiency in 3E Insight and SAP (preferred).
  • Possess knowledge of and engage in the product development process to provide guidance on regulatory and stewardship topics.
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office.
