About the position

As a Product Stewardship Compliance Analyst at BD, you will play a crucial role in supporting environmental compliance programs across the Medical Management Solutions (MMS) division. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that MMS products adhere to both domestic and international environmental compliance laws and regulations. This involves coordinating with the Product Stewardship team on corporate sustainability initiatives and ensuring alignment across the business. You will be tasked with collecting, reviewing, and inputting environmental compliance data, as well as reviewing product ingredients and bills of materials against new REACH SVHC obligations and other Material of Concern (MOC) requirements. Additionally, you will support 'where used' analysis to ensure compliance with various regulations. In this role, you will provide input and support to Research and Development (R&D) and Sustaining Engineering teams regarding Product Stewardship regulations and customer requirements. You will also be responsible for creating reports and documents as needed, assisting in writing and reviewing department procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and utilizing SAP for general data management. Your expertise will be essential in qualifying new materials that meet various product stewardship regulations and working with third-party test labs for product stewardship testing. You will analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs) for products and provide material positions to the business, as well as write job aids to meet various MOC regulations that can be translated into Standard Work Instructions (SWIs). Furthermore, you will collaborate with suppliers to collect material positions and analyze them to ensure compliance with environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental compliance programs across the MMS division.
  • Ensure MMS products meet domestic and international environmental compliance laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate with Product Stewardship on corporate sustainability initiatives and ensure alignment across the business.
  • Collect, review, and input environmental compliance data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any) and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Demonstrated experience with environmental compliance directives such as RoHS Directive, REACH Regulation, WEEE Directive, PFOS/PFOA Regulations, US TSCA Regulations, IEC 62321, IEC 62474, IEC 63000 Standards, Battery regulation, Packaging Directive, China RoHS, BPA Free, California Prop 65, Conflict Minerals, and Phthalates and Animal Derivatives.
  • Experience qualifying new materials meeting various product stewardship regulations.
  • Experience working with third-party test labs for product stewardship testing.
  • Ability to analyze BOMs (Bill of Materials) for any product and provide material positions to the business.
  • Experience writing job aids to meet various MOC regulations that can be translated into SWI (Standard Work Instruction).
  • Experience working with suppliers to collect material positions and analyze them.
  • Familiarity with tools like SAP (Product Data Management), Power BI, or Icertis- Statement of Work (Supplier Agreement contract tool).
