About the position

The Product Testing Manager at United Wheels Inc. will oversee global product and retail compliance for the company's portfolio of brands. This role is crucial in ensuring that all products meet applicable standards, regulations, and testing requirements. The manager will work cross-functionally with product development teams and external partners to communicate compliance standards and ensure that products carry the necessary markings and warnings. Additionally, the manager will stay updated on relevant laws and standards, manage product registration programs, and participate in early product development stages to evaluate potential hazards.

Responsibilities

• Determine standards to be followed for product testing compliance.
• Communicate to product development teams what is required to meet national, international, legal, customer, and UW Standards.
• Work cross-functionally to ensure all products carry the proper markings, warnings, and regulatory language.
• Determine test standards for all products and communicate with suppliers and third-party test labs.
• Help develop specific test methods and protocols for products and work with suppliers and third-party test labs to ensure compliance.
• Stay current on appropriate product standards and test requirements.
• Represent UW on ANSI and ASTM committees or working groups.
• Manage product registration programs for compliance.
• Manage UW testing program and ensure that documentation is current and properly archived.
• Work with customer compliance departments to ensure customer requirements are understood and met.
• Participate in the early stages of product development to evaluate possible hazards and recommend solutions.
• Keep current on new laws or legislation that may impact products.
• Be a resource for the legal team on any liability issues.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally to visit suppliers and third-party test labs, attend conferences and tradeshows.

Requirements

• Experience in product testing compliance and standards.
• Strong communication skills to convey requirements to product development teams.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with various departments and external partners.
• Knowledge of national and international product standards and regulations.
• Experience with product registration programs and compliance management.
• Ability to analyze and interpret scientific and technical documents.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with social media management and digital marketing.
