About the position

Universal Instruments is seeking a Product Trainer/Instructional Designer I to join our team in Conklin, NY. This full-time position is integral to the design and development of product training and performance support solutions aimed at enhancing the skills of both internal and external customers. The successful candidate will support Universal's eLearning platform and contribute to the development of web modules, ensuring that our training materials are effective and engaging. In this role, you will learn to implement Universal product training courses and support solutions according to established design standards. You will assist in driving product development processes and product support planning, defining training deliverables that align with our organizational goals. Staying updated on product changes is crucial, as you will continually improve your knowledge and skills to maintain Universal Product Trainer Certifications for each assigned course. Your responsibilities will include developing course materials that ensure training effectiveness and communicating any design changes. You will observe product training courses, focusing on hands-on student performance to gather feedback for course updates and sustaining development. Monitoring student satisfaction through surveys and verbal feedback will be part of your duties, as will communicating significant issues to the appropriate departments. Additionally, you will maintain the classroom, lab, and equipment to ensure they are in working order for training delivery. You will also design and develop engaging content for asynchronous training, collaborating with leadership, product trainers, customers, and subject matter experts. Supporting the eLearning team in the design and development of effective instructional web modules will be essential, as you participate in the end-to-end development cycle from defining learning objectives to deploying the final eLearning module on a Learning Management System (LMS). Other job-related duties may be assigned as required.

Responsibilities

• Learn to implement Universal product training courses and product support solutions, according to design standards.
• Assist in driving product development processes, product support planning and define training deliverables.
• Keep abreast of product changes and continually improve knowledge/skills.
• Maintain Universal Product Trainer Certifications for each assigned course.
• Develop assigned course materials to ensure training effectiveness and communicate design changes.
• Observe product training courses to internal and external customers with a focus on hands-on student performance of course objectives.
• Monitor student satisfaction through review of student survey data and verbal feedback.
• Communicate significant issues to the appropriate department and personnel.
• Maintain and/or assist with maintenance of classroom, lab, and equipment to ensure that all are in working order to fully support delivery of training.
• Design and develop engaging content for asynchronous training, with input from leadership, product trainers, customers, and subject matter experts.
• Support eLearning team members with design and development of effective instructional web modules.
• Participate in the end-to-end development cycle from supporting defined learning objectives to deploying the final eLearning module on an LMS.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or technical field is preferred, with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Detail oriented, independent performer, with a passion for customer service excellence.
• Able to analyze complex technical information and identify and document the underlying concepts, which can be used to facilitate learning.
• Experience with authoring software such as Storyline 360.
• Understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS).
