About the position

The Product Validation Manager will oversee the Mechanical/Hydraulic Test lab at Milacron's Global Headquarters in Batavia, Ohio. This role focuses on enhancing the technology and performance of Milacron's product lines and subsystems through effective management of testing processes and collaboration with various teams. The manager will lead the US Product Validation team, ensuring the lab's functionality and advancement while driving decision-making in product development and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Mechanical/Hydraulic Test lab and perform tests to enhance Milacron product lines and subsystems.
  • Lead the US Product Validation team.
  • Utilize strong analytical skills to support New Product Development (NPD) and Research & Development (R&D) divisions, collaborating with Milacron's Technology groups.
  • Generate comparative data on key hydraulic/mechanical components' performance and drive decision-making in NPD, Sales, and Engineering groups.
  • Implement DFMEA and similar processes in NPD and use Verification and Validation methodologies to address reliability areas.
  • Improve lab effectiveness through Continuous Improvement methodologies and manage the database of conducted tests.
  • Supervise lab technicians, maintain lab equipment, and ensure the lab's functionality and advancement.
  • Report monthly lab performance data and establish test roadmaps and timelines with NPD, Controls & Engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Field service & Quality teams to identify opportunities and support application groups for mold trials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Plastic Engineering plus 7+ years in testing, validation, R&D, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical skills for advanced data analysis to drive business needs on product performance & reliability.
  • Experience handling measurements and knowledge of deep analysis of strain, stress, vibration, deflections, and other mechanical properties using Data Acquisition systems such as LMS test lab.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand hydraulic schematics, GA drawings, and mechanical & hydraulic drawings.
  • Experience in utilizing DFMEA and similar tools for successful product launches.
