About the position

The Production Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the further processing production operations within the plant. This role ensures that production objectives are met at a designated quality level while maintaining cost efficiency and a safe work environment. The manager will coordinate various departments, monitor performance, and encourage teamwork to achieve production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the further processing production operations of the plant.
  • Coordinate production, maintenance, sanitation, quality, shipping, and receiving areas.
  • Monitor performance of each department to meet production efficiency, yield, and quality goals.
  • Set objectives and review shift's performance versus objectives.
  • Encourage subordinates to find ways to reduce costs.
  • Ensure sanitation meets USDA standards.
  • Coordinate production and sanitation maintenance to meet daily needs.
  • Analyze equipment daily and review findings with the maintenance superintendent.
  • Provide clear direction for supervisors and encourage teamwork to achieve goals.
  • Establish challenging goals and standards for each supervisor and motivate them to perform their best.
  • Ensure effective utilization of human resources by training subordinates and appraising performance.
  • Monitor operations to meet company policies, quality specifications, USDA, and OSHA standards.
  • Conduct plant inspections to eliminate hazardous conditions.
  • Manage all aspects of operations to assure a safe working environment.
  • Take immediate action to eliminate improper practices or hazardous conditions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in the poultry/food industry required with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Ability to interact with operational and processing management.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
