About the position

The Production Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the further processing production operations within the plant. This role ensures that production objectives are met while maintaining quality standards and a safe work environment. The manager will coordinate various departments, monitor performance, and encourage cost-reduction initiatives among staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct supervision of further processing production operations.
• Coordinate production, maintenance, sanitation, quality, shipping, and receiving areas.
• Monitor performance of each department to meet production efficiency, yield, and quality goals.
• Set objectives and review shift's performance versus objectives.
• Encourage subordinates to find ways to reduce costs.
• Ensure sanitation meets USDA standards.
• Coordinate production and sanitation maintenance to meet daily needs.
• Analyze equipment daily and review findings with maintenance superintendent.
• Provide clear direction for supervisors and encourage teamwork to achieve goals.
• Establish challenging goals and standards for each supervisor and motivate them to perform their best.
• Ensure effective utilization of human resources through training, motivation, performance appraisal, and development for potential promotion.
• Monitor operations to comply with company policies, quality specifications, USDA, and OSHA standards.
• Conduct plant inspections to eliminate hazardous conditions.
• Manage all aspects of operations to assure a safe working environment.
• Take immediate action to eliminate improper practices or hazardous conditions.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in the poultry/food industry required with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Good leadership skills.
• Ability to interact with operational and processing management.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
