About the position

The Production Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the further processing production operations within the plant. This role focuses on ensuring that production meets quality objectives while maintaining cost efficiency and a safe work environment. The manager will coordinate various departments, monitor performance, and encourage teamwork to achieve production goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct the further processing production operations of the plant.
• Coordinate production, maintenance, sanitation, quality, shipping, and receiving areas.
• Monitor performance of each department to meet production efficiency, yield, and quality goals.
• Set objectives and review shift's performance versus objectives.
• Encourage subordinates to find ways to reduce costs.
• Ensure sanitation meets USDA standards.
• Coordinate production and sanitation maintenance to meet daily needs.
• Analyze equipment on a daily basis and review with maintenance superintendent.
• Provide clear direction for supervisors and encourage teamwork to achieve goals.
• Establish challenging goals and standards for each supervisor and encourage their best efforts.
• Ensure effective utilization of human resources by training subordinates and motivating consistent performance.
• Monitor operations to meet company policies, quality specifications, USDA, and OSHA standards.
• Conduct plant inspections to eliminate hazardous conditions.
• Manage all aspects of operations to assure a safe working environment.
• Take immediate action to eliminate improper practices or hazardous conditions.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in the poultry/food industry required with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Good leadership skills.
• Ability to interact with operational and processing management.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
