About the position

The Production and Facilities Manager at Central Square Theater is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production process while also managing facilities concerns in collaboration with the Guest Experience Manager. This position requires a dynamic individual who can effectively manage the production team for each show, ensuring that all production needs are met and that the facilities are maintained to the highest standards. The Production and Facilities Manager will work closely with the Artistic Director to assess and fulfill any vacancies within the production team, schedule and lead production meetings, and create and maintain production calendars. Additionally, this role involves managing production budgets, hiring and managing key technical staff, and coordinating with various technical leads to ensure that all production elements are executed smoothly. In terms of facilities management, the Production and Facilities Manager will be responsible for distributing facilities keys, ensuring that all facilities and inventories are restored after each production, and maintaining facilities calendars. This role requires a commitment to safety and cleanliness, as the manager will need to maintain a safe and tidy work environment while educating others on safety protocols as necessary. Central Square Theater is dedicated to exploring social justice, science, and feminine perspectives through theater, and the Production and Facilities Manager will play a crucial role in supporting these initiatives through effective management and collaboration with the artistic and executive teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Production Team for each production
  • Assess and fulfill any Production Team vacancies in association with the Artistic Director
  • Schedule and lead all Production Meetings
  • Create and maintain all Production Calendars
  • Manage all Production Budgets
  • Hire and manage Technical Director and Lead Electrician for the season with the Artistic Director
  • Collaborate with the Artistic and Executive Directors in the creation of Season Production Budgets
  • Coordinate Scene Shop work with the Technical Director
  • Coordinate all Rental Equipment with other relevant Technical Leads
  • Assess and fulfill Overhire needs with the Lead Electrician and Technical Director
  • Coordinate all Production-Based Purchases with the Production Team
  • Maintain established Stock Inventories with the Lead Electrician and Technical Director
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment and educate others on safety protocol as needed
  • Manage Facilities Keys distribution
  • Ensure all facilities and inventories are restored after each Production
  • Maintain Facilities Calendars
  • Manage all facilities concerns with the Guest Experience Manager

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational, managerial, and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of all areas of technical theater production including lighting, scenic construction, sound, and rigging
  • Familiarity with every role within a Production Team and standard theater production workflow
  • Ability to read and interpret design paperwork
  • Familiarity with ETC Eos/Ion lighting console
  • Ability to work calmly under tight deadlines
  • Ability to multitask
  • Valid Driver's license and ability to drive box trucks
  • Ability to work at height on either ladder or lift - up to 20ft
  • Ability to lift and carry weights of over 50lbs
  • Budgeting experience
  • Familiarity with VectorWorks, Lightwright, and QLab or similar
