About the position

The Stevens Institute of Technology University Relations team is seeking a talented and hands-on full-time Production Assistant/Assistant Editor. This position involves a commitment of 35 hours per week and requires candidates to have solid experience and skills in digital multimedia and video production technology. As a member of our team, you will engage in all aspects of multimedia production, from pre-production to post-production. Your role will include active participation in the development, shooting, and editing of video content, as well as managing presentations, digital assets, interactive marketing campaigns, and other projects that enhance our public profile and brand awareness. You will play a crucial role in identifying opportunities and translating public relations objectives into tangible media assets. This is a hands-on, creative solutions team operating in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on quality and outcomes. The position reports to the Senior Director of Multimedia.

Responsibilities

  • Strong focus on post production, responsible for capturing, logging, and editing footage using non-linear editing systems to create edits that support the University's strategic marketing and communications goals and social channels.
  • Serve as camera production assistant during shoots, helping to set up and break down lights, cameras, and audio equipment.
  • Deploy and operate audio recording equipment, ensuring high-quality sound capture during shoots.
  • Process and log all media assets, including digital photography, video, graphics, audio, and web-based production projects.
  • Inventory, track, manage, and maintain production equipment such as cameras, lights, and audio gear.
  • Maintain detailed checklists to ensure all equipment is accounted for before and after shoots.
  • Promote and support design consistency in line with brand guides, assisting the university in achieving strategic PR objectives.
  • Research and identify best practices and advances in multimedia production where feasible.
  • Identify ways to enhance efficiency and improve the quality of generated content.
  • Collaborate with and support the Social Media team in creating brief micro-segments for social media platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a communications/multimedia related area of study.
  • 1-3 years of production experience in a relevant field.
  • Demo reel highlighting your work in multimedia production.
  • Strong DSLR video production and editing skills, with proficiency in required hardware and equipment.
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere, Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, and other relevant software.
  • Highly organized and dependable, with the ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, and excellent in follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with all levels of the organization.
  • Superb work ethic with a passion for excellence and innovation.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
