About the position

The Production Associate at Compana Pet Brands plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process, ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and maintaining high standards of safety and quality in pet care products. This position involves various tasks including operating production equipment, monitoring product quality, and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Responsibilities

  • Operating, adjusting, cleaning, and maintaining machinery and production line equipment.
  • Observing operations to ensure safety, quality, and conformity of filled/packaged products to established standards.
  • Supplying materials to hoppers, mixers, conveyors, and other feeding devices; removing damaged or inferior raw products for processing.
  • Sorting, weighing, and inspecting products; verifying and adjusting product weight or measurement to meet specifications.
  • Regulating machine flow, speed, and/or temperature.
  • Stopping or resetting equipment when malfunction occurs, clearing jams, and reporting malfunctions to the manager.
  • Adjusting machine components according to package size and packaging standards.
  • Monitoring the production line while watching for problems.
  • Sorting, counting, and recording finished goods and rejected packaged items.
  • Stacking finished product or wrapping protective material around each item and packing into cartons or containers.
  • Stocking and sorting product for packaging or filling machine operation; replenishing packaging supplies such as pouches, bags, boxes, cartons, tape, ink, and labels.
  • Inspecting and removing defective products and packaging material.
  • Cleaning equipment and facility as required to meet safety and quality specifications.
  • Complying with established facility safety policies, procedures, and other regulations including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a production setting preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical problems.
  • Operate and changeover equipment.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and ability to monitor production and perform quality checks.
  • Produce finished goods with the least amount of scrap to achieve high quality standards.
  • Strong reading comprehension skills.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Physical strength to lift 10-30 pounds repetitively with the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
