About the position

We are seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer - Electrical to join our team in Sugar Land, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, programming, simulating, and testing automated machinery and processes to complete specific tasks. Your expertise will be crucial in enhancing our production processes through automation solutions that improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance safety. You will collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineering (ME) teams to identify automation-based solutions that can streamline operations and optimize performance. Your responsibilities will include monitoring and analyzing data from automation systems to pinpoint areas for improvement. You will develop all necessary software and hardware to validate the requirements of the unit under test, aiming to improve throughput and yield. This includes working with various programming languages such as LabVIEW, SQL, Python, and other deep learning-based software, as well as PLC development. You will also interface with the production line to understand major failure modes of products, design experiments to isolate failures, and determine root causes. Additionally, you will work with management and product design teams to formulate effective manufacturing processes for our products. This position requires a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in our manufacturing practices. You can expect to travel internationally for about 5 to 10% of your time, depending on project needs. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the team and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work with ME teams to improve production processes by identifying automation-based solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce operating costs, and improve safety.
  • Monitor and analyze data from automation systems to identify areas for improvement and optimize performance.
  • Develop all required software and hardware to validate the requirements of the unit under test and improve throughput and yield.
  • Interface with the production line to understand major failure modes of products.
  • Design experiments/tests to isolate failures and determine root causes on products.
  • Collaborate with management and product design teams to formulate manufacturing processes for products.
  • Perform other duties as needed or required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 2 years plus in programming and engineering work.
  • Working experience with LabVIEW, with knowledge of common programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or VBA.
  • Experience with deep learning technology.
  • Experience with programmable logic controls, mechanical design, or circuit design is beneficial.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to manage multiple/concurrent projects.

  • Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
