About the position

The Production Broadcast and Live Event Engineer at Azusa Pacific University is responsible for managing media technology for live events, including athletic broadcasts, chapels, concerts, and corporate events. This role involves overseeing lighting design, programming, and maintenance, as well as providing technical direction and support for event productions. The engineer will also maintain and configure broadcast systems, ensuring effective solutions for the university's media and live event needs.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and programs lighting support for all live media production events on campus.
  • Coordinates repairs of lighting equipment across the campus.
  • Provides technical direction, assistance, and multimedia integration support to university productions.
  • Partners with the Director of Media Production throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Displays knowledge of live broadcast programming concepts and methodologies.
  • Consults with customers to recommend technology solutions.
  • Ensures proper alignment and settings of systems according to specifications.
  • Establishes technical standards and policies for media systems.
  • Trains and mentors student and staff in equipment operation and production techniques.
  • Supervises and educates a team of student Engineering Interns.
  • Supports emergency backup and recovery functions for reliability.
  • Provides training to Media Services staff on production equipment usage.
  • Contributes to maintenance and configuration of production equipment as directed.
  • Operates video/audio/graphics/lighting equipment when needed.
  • Researches emerging trends in media production technology.
  • Acts as Lighting Designer for events, including programming and maintenance.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Media Production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Media Production or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of broadcast engineering experience.
  • Five to seven years of live-event production and/or broadcast experience across major disciplines (audio, video, lighting, graphics).
