About the position

The Production Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the production scheduling and planning processes within a manufacturing environment that supplies automotive safety components. This role requires bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese, and involves managing production control staff while ensuring that production schedules align with customer demands and inventory levels. The position reports directly to the General Manager of Procurement and Production Planning and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement in production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage production schedules to meet shipping dates according to customer demands.
  • Monitor and analyze production requirements, manufacturing capacity, and schedules.
  • Provide leadership and direction for daily and long-term production planning.
  • Ensure work orders are issued to the production floor with available inventory and capacity.
  • Coordinate with production supervision, procurement, and warehouse staff to evaluate changes in the production schedule.
  • Monitor material usage and run material requirement reports daily.
  • Drive continuous improvement to increase production quality and yields.
  • Act as the company liaison between customers and the company to resolve issues.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and provide regular feedback.
  • Establish and maintain employee training plans and certifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain or related field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing production planning/logistics.
  • 5+ years of supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • At least 5 years of automotive industry purchasing and/or manufacturing purchasing experience.
  • Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including logistics, manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, especially advanced skills in Excel and MRP/ERP Systems (Syspro preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, both interpersonal and written.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • APICS certification preferred.
