About the position

The Production Control Manager at Daicel Safety Systems Americas, Inc. is a pivotal role that reports directly to the General Manager of Procurement and Production Planning. This position is characterized by a high degree of autonomy, requiring the manager to work with minimal direction and supervision. The primary responsibility of the Production Control Manager is to oversee the creation of production schedules that establish the sequence and lead-time of each operation, ensuring that shipping dates align with customer demands. This role is crucial in actively managing and maintaining the production schedule, which involves informing the Production and Logistics teams of any changes, problems, or concerns, and adjusting the schedule to accommodate changing conditions. In addition to schedule management, the Production Control Manager utilizes data to monitor, analyze, and report performance metrics to Operations Management. This includes monitoring production requirements, manufacturing capacity, and overall scheduling efficiency. The manager is also tasked with providing continual improvement of the planning and reporting processes, ensuring that production control staff are effectively managed and directed. The essential duties of this role encompass providing leadership and direction for both daily and long-term production planning. This involves assessing product inventory needs, demand forecasts, customer orders, and production efficiency. The manager ensures that work orders are issued to the production floor with the necessary inventory and capacity available, while also monitoring short-term capacity demands to identify raw material dates and projected deliveries to customers. Daily coordination with production supervision, procurement, and warehouse staff is essential to evaluate any necessary changes in the production schedule. Furthermore, the manager is responsible for executing reports that provide timely data and information to drive scheduling decisions, evaluating manufacturing or procurement challenges, and developing solutions to overcome these constraints. Collaboration with Operations Management is key to driving continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing production quality and yields. The Production Control Manager also participates in production and operations planning meetings, reviews records and reports for accuracy, and ensures compliance with established procedures. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is a priority, as is acting as the liaison between customers and the company to resolve any issues that may arise. Additionally, the manager conducts employee performance reviews, provides regular feedback, and maintains accurate records of employee attendance and training plans, ensuring that all employees are properly trained and compliant with quality procedures and safety requirements. It is important to note that all employees at DSSA are required to pass a drug test and background check prior to employment.
