Our client, a leader in the automotive industry, is looking for a Production Control Manager to join their team. This role is critical in overseeing the production planning and materials management functions related to the planning, procurement, storage, controlling, and distribution of quality materials and products. The Production Control Manager will be responsible for ensuring that production schedules are met while maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet customer requirements. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong focus on continuous improvement within the production control department. The Production Control Manager will oversee and inspire proper production control planning and scheduling programs to meet forecasts. They will develop monthly production plans and capacity studies to aid manufacturing for planning purposes. It is essential for the manager to confirm that any deviations to the production schedule are investigated and properly handled. Maintaining optimal inventory levels is crucial to ensure on-time deliveries while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges. The manager will also establish procedures and supervise the taking and valuing of inventories, determine supplier component part packaging, and manage the shipping and receiving functions of the plant. In addition to these responsibilities, the Production Control Manager will develop and maintain close working relationships with other departments to ensure cohesiveness within the plant. They will ensure that company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all material pricing trends that affect company goods. Using key performance indicators, the manager will initiate corrective planning proactive to customer complaints for continuous improvement of the production control department. Employee training will be updated as needed, and cross-training will be implemented to ensure department flexibility in a lean environment. The manager will also stress quality and safety procedures while leading by example, ensuring that the production control team maintains a clean and organized warehouse. Ongoing evaluation of the production control department staffing will be performed to better serve customer requirements and needs.
