About the position

The Production Controller (Ships) position at the Department of the Navy involves acting as a business agent for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC). The role requires maintaining liaison with customers, ship's force, and contractors throughout the lifecycle of assigned availabilities and contracts, from planning to post-completion. The position also includes responsibilities for funds administration, planning, estimating, and scheduling related to ship maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the business agent for MARMC with other activities involved in assigned availability/contracts.
  • Maintain liaison with customers, ship's force, and contractors on all matters related to assigned availabilities.
  • Act as funds administrator for assigned availability and contracts.
  • Coordinate and accomplish planning, estimating, design specification preparation, and scheduling.
  • Conduct arrival conferences, weekly progress conferences, and represent MARMC at all conferences pertaining to assigned availability and contracts.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience acting as funds administrator for contracts of ships.
  • Experience planning, estimating, scheduling, and expediting labor, machines, and materials in an industrial environment.
  • Experience leading project management teams.
  • Experience managing ship/vessel repair job orders and contracts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with military and commercial aircraft travel.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and personal protective equipment requirements.
