The incumbent will also be responsible for planning production schedules, laying out process steps, and specifying the necessary equipment for each product work station, which includes tasks such as cutting, assembling, printing, and packing. In addition to production responsibilities, the incumbent must prioritize the security of the institution, as this is a fundamental aspect of all correctional institution employees' duties. The role requires a balance between operational efficiency and adherence to security protocols, ensuring that all staff members are trained and equipped to handle their responsibilities effectively. This position is permanent, full-time, and offers a promotion potential to GS-11, with a salary range of $72,553 to $94,317 per year. The job requires some travel, estimated at 25% or less, primarily for training purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise staff in various UNICOR business and factory operations.
  • Plan and assign work to maintain workflow and evaluate performance of federal civilian employees.
  • Coordinate with quality control personnel and factory foremen to ensure quality control and quantity production.
  • Plan production schedules and lay out process steps for each product work station.
  • Specify equipment needed for tasks including cutting, assembling, printing, and packing.
  • Maintain security of the institution as a primary responsibility.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level in the normal line of progression for the occupation.
  • Experience in planning production and specifying equipment for work stations.
  • Experience in supervising and directing production planning and scheduling.
  • Experience in coordinating with quality control personnel to ensure production standards are met.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate education related to the work of the position may be credited in some instances.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software such as SAP.
