About the position

The Production Coordinator / Procurement Specialist role at Drake Controls is designed for individuals with experience in procurement operations and administration. The position focuses on improving and streamlining procurement processes while collaborating with various internal teams and external suppliers. The successful candidate will manage purchasing activities, ensure timely procurement of parts and materials, and provide administrative support to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the company's day-to-day purchasing activities.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the technical specifications of products and services procured.
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to interpret technical drawings, requirements, and standards.
  • Develop a supplier review process, including cost analysis and compliance checks.
  • Assist in the selection and qualification of suppliers in collaboration with Production and Engineering management.
  • Maintain an approved vendors list and update supplier information regularly.
  • Ensure diligent procurement processes, including RFQs and RFPs.
  • Evaluate quotations from suppliers based on price and delivery time.
  • Issue Purchase Orders to selected suppliers and coordinate shipments.
  • Maintain open communication with suppliers to avoid errors or delays.
  • Source technical parts and maintain inventory levels according to company guidelines.
  • Generate order confirmations and coordinate with the sales department for client approvals.
  • Report potential issues, delays, and quality control concerns in a timely manner.
  • Act as a liaison between vendors, manufacturing, and the engineering department.
  • Identify areas for improvement in the procurement process and recommend solutions.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure shipments are received and checked against orders.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in electronic components purchasing, planning, and supply chain management.
  • Ability to interpret requirements from system specifications and verbal inputs.
  • Good understanding of procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of logistics and quality control.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate with staff members.
  • Background in administrative support.

Nice-to-haves

  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of sourcing/procurement work processes.
