About the position

The Production Drafter at Colt Services LLC will serve as a vital link between the engineering and manufacturing departments, ensuring that design requirements are effectively communicated and that the manufacturing process runs smoothly. This role requires a candidate who is not only proficient in CAD software but also possesses strong mathematical skills and excellent communication and organizational abilities. The Production Drafter will be responsible for creating detailed designs and technical drawings that adhere to specified requirements, utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks. The position demands a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as the drafter will be tasked with maintaining and updating work orders through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, ensuring that all documentation related to manufacturing processes is precise and up-to-date. In addition to technical skills, the Production Drafter will need to collaborate closely with various teams within the organization, including engineering, purchasing, and production management. This collaboration will involve gathering design specifications, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating the ordering of materials or parts necessary for production jobs. The ability to prioritize job orders based on deadlines and resource availability is crucial, as is the flexibility to work on a rotational schedule that may include nights and weekends, depending on production demands. The ideal candidate will also be proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvements in communication, data management, and material ordering procedures, contributing to the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to gather design requirements and specifications necessary for manufacturing processes.
  • Create detailed designs and technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design requirements.
  • Communicate with various divisions within the company to gather updates on the status of ongoing jobs and relay information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Create, maintain, and update work orders using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, ensuring accurate documentation of manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and procurement teams to order materials or parts required for production jobs, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Monitor inventory levels of materials and parts to prevent shortages and ensure smooth production operations.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and managers to prioritize job orders based on deadlines and resource availability.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in communication, data management, and material ordering procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering, Drafting, or a technical degree.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work weekends on a rotating schedule.

Nice-to-haves
