About the position

The Production Engineering Manager at Perrigo is responsible for leading a team that provides production engineering, continuous improvement, and asset reliability engineering services to enhance the operational performance of a pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging site. This role focuses on instilling a culture of Process Excellence through Lean Sigma principles, ensuring effective project execution, and fostering continuous improvement among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Production Engineering team to execute projects aimed at improving operational performance.
  • Monitor and ensure timely submission of deviation reports and effectiveness of CAPAs initiated by the Continuous Improvement team.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the Asset Reliability program across Perrigo New York according to guidelines and timelines.
  • Manage the capacity of production engineering services to meet site needs, assisting with effort estimation and work planning.
  • Monitor the team's workload and progress towards project goals, identifying and removing dependencies and impediments as needed.
  • Escalate risks to the head of engineering when necessary for assistance.
  • Facilitate discussions on team performance against overall roadmap, goals, and objectives.
  • Monitor project execution and report results to site management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a similar role.
  • Minimum of 2 years of managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills, with a focus on advocating and documenting best practices.
  • Knowledge of cGMPs and previous exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to supervise teams to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication, organizational, relationship-building, and documentation skills with strong computer literacy.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply Lean Sigma principles is highly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including listening and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply written procedures and standards governing manufacturing processes.
