About the position
Production Engineers at Meta are hybrid software/systems/infrastructure engineers who ensure that Meta's services run smoothly and have the capacity for future growth. They are embedded across Meta's product and infrastructure teams, and are core participants in significant engineering efforts underway in the company. Our team is composed of people with varied levels of experience and diverse backgrounds, from new grads to industry experts. Relevant industry experience is important (Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Systems Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Network Engineer, or similar role), but ultimately less so than your demonstrated abilities and attitude. We sail into uncharted waters every day at Meta in Production Engineering, and we are always learning.
Requirements
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
- 2+ years of experience in UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals
- 2+ years of coding experience
- Experience learning development languages (Python, C++, Rust, PHP/Hack, Go, Java)
- Experience learning software, frameworks and APIs
- Experience with Internet service architecture capacity planning and/or handling needs for urgent capacity augmentation
- Knowledge of common web technologies and/or Internet service architectures (such as LAMP or MEAN stacks, CDN, Load Balancing techniques, etc.)
- Experience configuring and running infrastructure level applications, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL, etc.
