The Project Manager for the Equipment Production department at American Honda Motor Co. plays a crucial role in executing New Model and Business Plan project activities across various functions including design, manufacturing, quality, and production. This position is vital for achieving the quality, cost, and delivery targets that are essential for the successful launch of new models at the production site. The Project Manager will work under the guidance of the Unit Lead or an assigned mentor, influencing cross-functional teams within the department and across multiple plant locations. In this role, the Project Manager will lead the execution of Equipment New Model (NM) and Business Plan (BP) projects, ensuring adherence to the project general schedule and specified action plans. Utilizing technical expertise, the Project Manager will develop Project SAP and address any schedule delays or concerns arising from manufacturing overlaps with tool sets and projects, with support from the Unit Lead or mentor. Collaboration and communication are key components of this position. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading communications with various entities across PEBU, Global and Local Honda, including MMC, Accounting, and Purchasing, as well as local and global suppliers. Regular updates on project status will be communicated to all levels of management, and the Project Manager will drive daily and weekly meetings to coordinate with support groups and other ADC business units. Additionally, the Project Manager will oversee maturation adjustment activities to meet build events and mass production dates, providing guidance and direction on achieving project actions. They will also lead evaluations based on technical and management requirements during the execution phase, developing expertise in New Model evaluation content. Resolving issues and conflicts that arise during projects is essential, as is the ability to negotiate and influence outcomes with cross-functional teams and suppliers, all while being guided by the Unit Lead or mentor. Monitoring plant activities to proactively identify issues and develop countermeasures to enhance plant characteristics, competitiveness, and KPI achievement is also a critical responsibility. The Project Manager is expected to grow their knowledge and skills in New Model activities continuously.
