About the position

The Production Equipment (Cage) Manager at Lowry Studios is responsible for overseeing the management and maintenance of all production equipment, ensuring it is well-maintained, tracked, and readily available for faculty, students, and production teams. This role includes supervising the equipment room and work-study students, facilitating efficient equipment distribution, and interfacing with faculty to meet equipment needs for classes and projects. The manager will coordinate repairs, handle inventory management, enforce usage policies, and manage the FS Greenlight reservation software to promote safe and responsible equipment use.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the equipment cage at Lowry Studios, ensuring efficient operations and excellent customer service.
  • Process and fulfill orders for equipment, ensuring timely and accurate distribution to staff, students, or production teams.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all equipment, ensuring that gear is tracked, available, and replaced as necessary.
  • Ensure all production equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and in working order.
  • Collaborate with faculty and instructors to understand their equipment needs for classes and projects.
  • Supervise work study students and student technicians assigned to the equipment room, delegating tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Support equipment-related events such as Canon Visits and Panavision, ensuring all logistical needs are addressed.
  • Create, perform and delegate advance training on high value equipment and FS Greenlight software.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Innovative/Cinematic Arts Related Field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of film, video, lighting, sound, and production gear required in film/video productions.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students in a college academic environment.
  • Evidence of occupational experience showing strong customer service skills, patience and a positive attitude.
