About the position

The Production Hi-lo Driver at Magna Powertrain is responsible for ensuring efficient material flow within the plant by keeping operations stocked with necessary materials and supplies. This role involves operating a Hi-lo safely and effectively, supporting production processes, and adhering to safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Keep presses and work centers supplied with containers, parts, material and/or components.
  • Remove containers filled with work in process material, finished goods, and/or scrap.
  • Verify that material and product has been properly identified with part number and operation number.
  • Weight count containers before placing them in final audit, work in process, or finished goods.
  • Identify nonconforming products entering the hold area with part number, quantity, and defect description.
  • Operate the Hi-lo in a safe and responsible manner, completing a daily Hi-lo checklist for maintenance.
  • Notify maintenance and supervisor if the Hi-lo is not operating correctly.
  • Empty scrap from containers into the correct scrap hopper and support scrap pickup activities.
  • Monitor availability of steel at presses and load steel when needed.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures including IATF16949, ISO14001, and MIOSHA safety regulations.
  • Participate in division and department improvement initiatives through Continuous Improvement Suggestion Program.
  • Maintain professional and cooperative communication with all employees.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Hi-lo driver in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English and document forms as required.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of AS400 and ability to use bar code labeling system.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and solve problems.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow MIOSHA safety requirements and knowledge of safety procedures.
