About the position

Astec is a global, environmentally focused infrastructure and manufacturing company specializing in asphalt road building and aggregate processing. The Production/Inventory Control Manager will lead the day-to-day functions of the department, ensuring efficient inventory management and adherence to company policies and applicable laws. This role involves preparing and running reports, performing inventory cycle counts, and assisting the inventory controls manager in maintaining accurate inventory records. The manager will monitor inventory levels, resolve discrepancies, and achieve procurement goals while providing support to other departments. Key responsibilities include coordinating with stockroom personnel and purchasing for inventory replenishment, maintaining build-ahead parts inventory, and reporting on inventory values and adjustments. The manager will also support the physical inventory process, including preparing necessary documentation and problem-solving discrepancies. The role requires effective communication and teamwork to ensure proper inventory control procedures are followed across all departments. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least four years of experience in inventory control, including two years of experience with Microsoft Word and Windows. Familiarity with Epicor inventory systems is preferred, along with strong computer skills and the ability to work under pressure. Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day functions of the inventory control department.
  • Prepare and run reports related to inventory management.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts and assist the inventory controls manager.
  • Plan, execute, and reconcile physical inventories between systems and counts.
  • Monitor all inventory issues and ensure effective resolutions.
  • Achieve specific procurement goals and provide support to others.
  • Maintain current inventory levels and paperwork.
  • Handle daily inventory control transactions including adjustments and discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with stockroom personnel and purchasing for inventory replenishment.
  • Maintain build-ahead parts inventory based on major jobs and sales orders.
  • Report on inventory values, raw materials, and count discrepancies.
  • Support the cycle count program and analyze discrepancies.
  • Assist with all aspects of Physical Inventory, including documentation and problem-solving.
  • Prepare routine administrative paperwork and monitor inventory levels.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • 4+ years of experience in inventory control required.
  • Minimum two years' experience in MS Word and Windows required.
  • General knowledge of Epicor inventory and material transactions preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Word, Windows, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Good telephone etiquette and ability to handle customer and employee calls required.
  • Ability to type 45 to 55 words per minute required.
  • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines required.
  • Ability to effectively work as a member of a team required.
  • Prefer two years inventory control experience in a support-related function.

Nice-to-haves
