About the position

The Production Logistics Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the production and distribution of products by efficiently managing inventory and ensuring that materials are delivered to workstations as needed. This position involves pulling and delivering relevant materials from inventory, classifying materials, and preparing work orders based on the production schedule. The specialist is responsible for inspecting and delivering received raw production materials and supplies, as well as staging and dispatching finished products. In this role, the specialist will maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in their proper locations based on material type. They will locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying items listed on pick lists for various departments, including welding and assembly, as well as for outgoing manufacturing shipments. The use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes is essential for moving raw materials, parts, equipment, and shipments as directed. Additionally, the specialist will document the disposition of materials and supplies by recording units delivered and their locations. They will also handle credit-return materials from production, ensuring that materials are verified and placed back in stock. The role requires reviewing Capacity Resource Planning (CRP) and preparing work orders based on production dates. The specialist will support manufacturing personnel with material handling needs and create detailed packing lists for outgoing equipment projects. Documentation of product shipments, including photographic evidence, is also a key responsibility. The position requires maintaining material-handling equipment through pre-use inspections and minor repairs, contributing to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed. The work environment is primarily in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure, and involves the use of standard office and warehouse equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock.
  • Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying items listed on pick lists for various departments.
  • Utilize forklift, pallet jacks, and overhead crane to move raw materials, parts, equipment, and shipments as directed.
  • Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
  • Document materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and their locations.
  • Receive credit-return materials from production by verifying material, part number, location, and quantity.
  • Review Capacity Resource Planning (CRP) and prepare work orders based on production dates.
  • Support manufacturing personnel concerning material handling on-demand.
  • Create detailed packing lists for outgoing equipment projects and their supporting items.
  • Document product shipment by recording units shipped and including photos of shipments.
  • Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Current forklift certification and overhead crane training required.
  • Experience in analyzing information and being deadline-oriented.
  • Ability to manage time with a sense of urgency and understand inventory control and data entry.
  • Basic rigging knowledge.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1-2 years of experience working in a warehouse setting or in logistics.
  • Experience in operating material handling equipment preferred.
  • Minor proficiency in IFS manufacturing module.
