The Production Machinery Mechanic Training Leader position at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia, PA, is a critical role within the Office of the Manufacturing Department. This position is responsible for training a multifunctional workforce that includes machine operators, counting and packaging machine operators, die setters, heat treaters, and production maintenance mechanics. The successful candidate will provide specialized classroom and on-the-job training related to various production equipment used in the coin manufacturing industry, such as annealing furnaces, burnishing equipment, upsetting mills, edge lettering equipment, coin and blank presses, and coin destruction machines. In this role, the Training Leader will develop and implement training methods, procedures, and techniques for operating, troubleshooting, adjusting, and repairing the aforementioned equipment. The position requires training personnel at various levels, including Production Maintenance Mechanics (WG-10), Die Setters (WG-9), Heat Treaters (WG-8), Press Operators (WG-7), and Production Machinery Operators (WG-6). This involves instructing them in the operation, disassembly, and repair of specific sections of metal forming machines, counting machines, annealers, upsetters, blanking presses, and other production equipment. The Training Leader will also be responsible for ensuring that all training is conducted in compliance with safety regulations and operational standards. This position operates on a 24-hour basis, requiring flexibility in shift assignments, and may involve moderate physical exertion, including lifting machine parts and standing for long periods. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to instruct and possess the necessary technical skills to effectively train others in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
