About the position

The Production Manager for the 1st Shift in the Fabrication/Roller Shop at Daifuku is responsible for overseeing the production activities and performance of Supervisors to ensure the timely and safe manufacturing of quality products within budget. This role involves managing departmental operations, staffing, and ensuring compliance with quality management systems while driving continuous improvement and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities and performance of Supervisors to ensure quality products are manufactured on time, safely, and within budget.
  • Ensure efficient and timely production and proper staffing of all department-related requirements to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Support recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Communicate job expectations and plan, monitor, appraise, and review job contributions.
  • Assign duties, give verbal and written instructions, and review work for conformance to quality and safety standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members and consult with other resources when needed.
  • Communicate with the Director of Manufacturing regarding schedules and backlogs.
  • Work with Project Managers and Engineering as appropriate.
  • Determine outsourcing needs to maintain project schedules.
  • Review labor charges, purchase requisitions, and department schedules.
  • Conduct department and CIT meetings.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the material handling industry.
  • Excellent management skills for directing, coaching, scheduling, and assisting team members.
  • Technical orientation with the ability to learn new technologies.
  • Computer skills including MS Office.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative.
