About the position

The position involves overseeing the daily operations of poultry production, ensuring that customer expectations are consistently met through active involvement on the production floor. The role requires a strong leader who can manage a team effectively, implement employee development programs, and maintain a positive work environment. The working hours for this position are from 10 PM to 8 AM, which necessitates a candidate who is comfortable with night shifts and can manage the unique challenges that come with them. The supervisor will be responsible for directly supervising production supervisors and monitoring the performance of lead and hourly employees. This includes advising direct reports on handling disciplinary actions, conducting performance assessments, and fostering effective communication with hourly associates. The supervisor will also be tasked with setting clear expectations, tracking results, and managing accountability within the team. Additionally, the role requires monitoring staffing needs to ensure that company objectives are met while promoting a culture of safety and employee involvement through regular department meetings, an open-door policy, and team activities.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and manages daily operational requirements to meet customer expectations through on-the-floor involvement.
  • Oversees implementation of employee development programs to ensure company needs are met regarding employee knowledge, training, and development.
  • Directly supervises production supervisors, monitors lead, and hourly employees.
  • Advises direct reports on proper handling of disciplinary actions, performance assessments, and overall communication with hourly associates.
  • Sets expectations, tracks results, and manages accountability.
  • Monitors staffing needs to allow company objectives to be met.
  • Ensures a positive environment is maintained to allow for maximum employee involvement through department meetings, open-door policy, team activities, and empowerment.
  • Champions company-wide safety programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience with significant responsibility in poultry production.
  • Poultry processing experience is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work within timelines and in pressure situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
