The Production Manager for the 3rd Shift in Goldsboro, NC, is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of poultry production during the night shift, which runs from 10 PM to 8 AM. The Production Manager will be actively involved on the production floor, organizing and managing daily operational requirements to consistently meet customer expectations. This hands-on approach is essential for fostering a productive work environment and ensuring that all employees are aligned with the company's objectives. In addition to managing daily operations, the Production Manager will oversee the implementation of employee development programs. This includes ensuring that employees receive the necessary training and development to meet the company's needs. The role involves direct supervision of production supervisors and monitoring the performance of lead and hourly employees. The Production Manager will provide guidance on disciplinary actions, performance assessments, and effective communication with hourly associates, ensuring that all team members are held accountable for their responsibilities. The Production Manager will also be responsible for monitoring staffing needs to ensure that production objectives are met. This includes setting clear expectations, tracking results, and managing accountability within the team. A positive work environment is crucial, and the Production Manager will work to maintain this through regular department meetings, an open-door policy, team-building activities, and employee empowerment initiatives. Additionally, the Production Manager will act as a champion for company-wide safety programs and initiatives, promoting a culture of safety and compliance within the production facility.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and manages daily operational requirements to consistently meet customer expectations through on-the-floor involvement.
  • Oversees implementation of employee development programs to ensure company needs are met relative to employee knowledge, training, and development.
  • Directly supervises production supervisors, monitors lead, and hourly employees.
  • Advises direct reports on proper handling of disciplinary actions, performance assessments, and overall communication with hourly associates.
  • Sets expectations, tracks results, and manages accountability.
  • Monitors staffing needs to allow company objectives to be met.
  • Ensures a positive environment is maintained to allow for maximum employee involvement through department meetings, open-door policy, team activities, and empowerment.
  • Acts as a champion for company-wide safety programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred plus at least 3 years of supervisory experience with a significant level of responsibility in poultry production.
  • Poultry processing experience is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work within timelines and in pressure situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
