About the position

The Production Manager at Oldcastle Infrastructure is a pivotal role responsible for leading and directing the overall production and maintenance operations in alignment with the corporation's vision and values. This position emphasizes fostering a "Culture of Safety" among staff and all employees by promoting and modeling an Employee Driven, Hazard Controlled environment. The Production Manager plays a crucial role in advising the local business on long-term strategic direction, ensuring that production plans are effectively managed and coordinated to meet delivery schedules and budgeted cost and efficiency expectations. In this role, the Production Manager is tasked with driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation. This includes managing the coordination and execution of predictive and preventative maintenance plans through the maintenance management system, ensuring that asset reliability meets or exceeds performance expectations. The Production Manager is accountable for adherence to standards, policies, and regulations that govern the safe and environmentally compliant production of quality precast concrete products. They are also responsible for ensuring that training plans for production and maintenance staff are in place and adhered to, promoting key aspects of the overall succession plan process. Additionally, the Production Manager may assume plant manager responsibilities as needed. The role requires a proactive approach to implementing and maintaining safety and continuous flow production methods in collaboration with the plant manager. The Production Manager must actively seek out and implement process improvements, including those related to raw material cost reduction, asset utilization, and team dynamics. They are responsible for final sign-off on daily and weekly production schedules and must establish effective communication channels for staff and employees, including morning safety huddles and mid-day meetings. Ensuring proper training of employees and maintaining an optimal plant layout for safety and efficiency are also key responsibilities. The Production Manager will utilize the Inventory Management Process to ensure that finished goods inventory meets targets and will ensure compliance with OSHA training requirements. Overall, this role is integral to maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for overall production and maintenance operations.
  • Foster a "Culture of Safety" for staff and all employees.
  • Advise the local business concerning long-term strategic direction.
  • Manage and coordinate the production plan to meet delivery schedules and budgeted cost/efficiency expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through appropriate channels in the operation.
  • Manage the coordination and execution of predictive/preventative maintenance plans.
  • Ensure asset reliability meets or exceeds performance expectations.
  • Hold staff accountable for adherence to standards, policies & regulations for safe production.
  • Ensure training plans for production and maintenance staff are in place and followed.
  • Assume plant manager responsibilities as needed.
  • Implement and maintain safety & continuous flow production methods with plant manager.
  • Seek out and implement process improvements, including RM cost reduction and asset utilization.
  • Promote and develop team dynamics and prepare for change.
  • Establish formal and informal communications for staff and employees.
  • Ensure proper training of employees with leads and systematic trainer.
  • Responsible for plant layout, ensuring optimal safety and efficiency.
  • Utilize Inventory Management Process to ensure finished goods inventory meets targets.
  • Ensure monthly OSHA compliance training is conducted according to schedule requirements.
  • Engage safety committee in promoting awareness for safety programs/initiatives.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of precast processes and equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 3+ years leadership experience in an industrial environment leading multiple departments.
  • Associates' degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Production or related field or Bachelors' degree preferred.
