About the position

Celebrity Cruises is seeking a Production Manager to oversee all aspects of Onboard Entertainment, which includes Production Shows, Featured Entertainers, Singers, and Dancers. The Production Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that all entertainment events are executed flawlessly, maintaining the artistic standards set by the Producers, Directors, and Designers. The position requires a commitment to excellence and a passion for delivering premium vacation experiences to guests aboard our innovative cruise ships. The Production Manager will work closely with the Cruise Director and the Audio-Visual (A-V) Manager to coordinate the use of entertainment spaces and ensure that all events are presented consistently and professionally. This role is vital in creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere on board, where the entire ship is considered a stage for various performances and events. The Production Manager is responsible for the scheduling and monitoring of all Onboard Entertainment, ensuring that each event starts on time and is delivered successfully. This includes monitoring audio and lighting quality, addressing any issues that arise, and ensuring that Featured Entertainers are welcomed and assisted during their embarkation and disembarkation processes. The role also involves operating or delegating the Stage Automation system and maintaining accurate documentation of all show particulars, including running orders and cue lists. The Production Manager must attend all performances, call show cues when necessary, and provide feedback to the team to ensure continuous improvement in the quality of entertainment provided to guests.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, coaches, supports, supervises and evaluates the job performance of the Audio-Visual (A-V) Manager in conjunction with the Cruise Director.
  • Coordinates all uses of the main showroom and other entertainment lounges/areas to ensure consistent presentation of all meetings, activities, and entertainment.
  • Responsible for scheduling and monitoring all aspects of Onboard Entertainment, ensuring on-time starts and successful delivery of each event.
  • Monitors audio quality and volume, working with the A-V Manager to remedy any problems.
  • Monitors lighting quality, collaborating with the A-V Manager to address any issues.
  • Meets and greets Featured Entertainers at the gangway, ensuring smooth embarkation and disembarkation processes.
  • Operates or delegates the operation of the Stage Automation system.
  • Keeps accurate and up-to-date documentation of all show particulars, including running orders and cue lists.
  • Assembles and maintains the Prompt Book, keeping accurate records of playing text, cue sheets, stage plots, and all stage-related documentation and correspondence.
  • Attends all performances, calls show cues if necessary, checks sign-in sheets, checks the stage, starts shows, and gives notes as necessary.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing entertainment productions, preferably in a cruise or hospitality environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and evaluate team performance.
  • Excellent organizational skills to coordinate multiple events and schedules effectively.
  • Proficient in audio-visual technology and stage management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments, including the Cruise Director and A-V Manager.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with entertainers and crew members.
