The Production Manager / CI manages and coordinates activities concerned with the production of the company products. The American Almond location specializes in the processing and manufacturing of tree nut products. The Sr. Production Supervisor has a strong commitment to food and employee safety, ensuring compliance for the production department and in the application of his/her daily routine. Key responsibilities include directing and managing plant operations production and shipping, conferring with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, developing budget and cost controls, and obtaining data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered. The role also involves ensuring products meet customer specifications, coordinating activities of shipping and receiving, and compiling, reviewing, and analyzing production operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems. The Production Manager will consult with engineering and maintenance relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products. They will revise production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems, collaborate with the Site Manager in the development of work instructions and training plans, and consult with management, employees, and Human Resources to resolve or effect settlement of employee concerns. Adherence to all respective legislation and company policies is crucial. The role also includes managing the activities of the purchaser to ensure inventory of raw ingredients necessary to meet production processes and the provision of goods and services to all other company functions. The Production Manager will develop and revise Operational Procedures and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards, promote and develop the leadership skills of the team, and establish continuous improvement strategies and processes to reduce waste, cycle time, and hours utilization. They will implement and monitor food and safety programs for the production department, meeting all regulatory requirements for both, and are committed to providing a safe food product while working within all regulatory requirements. The role requires the ability to adhere to GMP practices and all other food safety requirements, as well as preparing relevant reports and statistics to be shared with management and teams. The Production Manager leads by example, displays a positive attitude, and works to support Continuous Improvement and Production goals, controlling and managing corporate improvement tools such as Team boards, 5S, 8 Step, and problem-solving techniques. Collaboration with HR on Safety Skills training and disciplinary guidance is also part of the role.
