About the position

The Converting Production Manager at WestRock Company will oversee manufacturing activities at the Winston-Salem facility, ensuring production objectives related to volume, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction are met. This role involves managing direct reports, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations while fostering a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage direct reports and coordinate manufacturing activities.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating personnel on equipment and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and monitor control procedures.
  • Revise production schedules and priorities as needed due to equipment failure or customer demands.
  • Review and analyze production reports to identify causes of nonconformity.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop operating methods to improve product quality.
  • Develop strong relationships with key members of the organization to prevent production delays.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and customer commitments.
  • Partner with the Plant Safety Manager to enforce the safety program.
  • Manage workforce planning to maintain productivity levels.
  • Maintain a working relationship with the union according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Identify training and development opportunities for Production Supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D - Required
  • 5+ years of converting supervisory experience in a corrugated/converting packaging facility - Required
  • Knowledge of machinery and troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Proven experience with lean and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all employees and customers, both verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
