The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the production schedule, managing a team of supervisors, and ensuring that all production processes are efficient and effective. In this position, the Production Manager will maintain the current production schedule, updating it daily to track the progress of equipment orders. They will manage six direct supervisors and approximately sixty indirect reports, providing guidance and support to ensure that production goals are met. The role involves conducting weekly production meetings to discuss scheduling and production-related matters, as well as ensuring the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. The Production Manager will also work closely with the Materials Manager and the Purchasing Department to develop accurate manufacturing time studies and realistic production schedules. Responsibilities

  • Maintain current production schedule and update daily to track equipment orders.
  • Manage six supervisors directly and fifty indirect reports.
  • Establish realistic production schedules to remain competitive in equipment manufacturing lead-times.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of Production Department data into the IT system.
  • Conduct weekly production meetings with applicable Production Personnel.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials used in manufacturing.
  • Prepare and conduct timely performance reviews for subordinate employees.
  • Work closely with the Materials Manager and Purchasing Department.
  • Assist in developing accurate manufacturing time studies for production scheduling and cost estimation.
  • Ensure inter-departmental cooperation to meet production commitments.
  • Conduct production meetings to ensure communication regarding production-related matters.
  • Ensure a safe and secure work environment within the manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and coach team members.
  • Solid track record in overall plant management.
  • Strong work ethic and high energy level.
  • Prior experience with an ERP or MRP system.
  • Experience supervising the production department of a small to medium-size manufacturer.
  • Exposure to organizations with in-house sheet metal, welding & fabrication, and machine shops.
  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree (preferred but not required).
  • Experience organizing production operations with a specialty machinery manufacturer.
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure smooth manufacturing processes and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate clear communication between departments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree (not required but preferred).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with electro-mechanical machinery.
