About the position

The Production Manager at Sony Pictures Animation is responsible for overseeing the entire project during all phases of pre-production. This role involves managing both the artistic and production crews, ensuring that productions meet target dates and budgets while collaborating closely with studio executives, accountants, and marketing teams. The position emphasizes empowering filmmakers and fostering a creative environment to produce innovative visual storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain all project schedules, ensuring that artists and crew are aware of assignments and target dates.
  • Lead all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the production, including Story, VisDev, and Editorial departments.
  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities to the production team.
  • Supervise all approval deadlines and landmarks.
  • Report to the Studio weekly with all updates and statuses.
  • Maintain constant communication with Executives regarding show feedback and updates.
  • Lead meetings, reviews, and executive meetings as needed.
  • Utilize tools like Excel, Shotgun, Flix, and Google Docs to track all tasks.
  • Proactively seek solutions and lead the team effectively.
  • Work closely with Finance and Staffing to crew up the team within the approved budget.
  • Facilitate smooth workflow.

Requirements

  • Previous dynamic experience in a production role in animation or VFX.
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and diligent with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and set appropriate priorities.
  • Capable of taking direction when needed and also taking initiative where applicable.
  • Trustworthy and able to maintain a high level of discretion.
  • Driven, innovative, strategic, and solution-focused.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with creative individuals.
  • Ability to communicate in a constructive, proactive manner.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to balance various priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer and technology literate, familiar with Mac/PC operating systems, Photoshop, Word, Excel, and Gmail.
