About the position

The Production Manager at INWESCO, a CRH company, plays a pivotal role in leading and directing overall production and maintenance operations. This position is integral to ensuring that the operations align with the corporation's vision and values, particularly emphasizing a "Culture of Safety". The Production Manager is tasked with fostering a safe working environment by promoting and modeling an Employee Driven, Hazard Controlled atmosphere. This role involves advising the local business on long-term strategic direction and managing the production plan on a daily and weekly basis to meet delivery schedules while adhering to budgeted cost and efficiency expectations. In addition to overseeing production, the Production Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation. This includes managing the coordination and execution of predictive and preventative maintenance plans to ensure that asset reliability meets or exceeds performance expectations. The Production Manager holds themselves and their staff accountable for adhering to standards, policies, and regulations that ensure the safe and environmentally compliant production of quality products. Training plans for both production and maintenance staff are also a critical component of this role, promoting key aspects of the overall succession plan process. The Production Manager will assist with plant manager responsibilities as needed, ensuring that safety and continuous flow production methods are implemented and maintained. They will actively seek out process improvements, including cost reduction and asset utilization, while also ensuring that the team is prepared for changes and that leadership is continuously improved. The role requires establishing effective communication channels within the team and ensuring that employees receive proper training to advance the business. Overall, the Production Manager is a key leader in maintaining optimal safety and efficiency within the plant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for overall production and maintenance operations.
  • Foster a "Culture of Safety" for staff and all employees.
  • Advise the local business concerning long-term strategic direction.
  • Manage and coordinate the production plan to meet delivery schedules and budgeted cost/efficiency expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through appropriate channels in the operation.
  • Manage the coordination and execution of predictive/preventative maintenance plans.
  • Ensure asset reliability meets or exceeds performance expectations.
  • Hold self and staff accountable for adherence to standards, policies & regulations.
  • Ensure training plans for production and maintenance staff are in place and followed.
  • Assist with plant manager responsibilities as needed.
  • Implement and maintain safety & continuous flow production methods.
  • Seek out and implement process improvements.
  • Assess team dynamics and promote & develop team pipeline.
  • Establish formal and informal communications for staff and employees.
  • Ensure proper training of employees with leads and systematic trainer.
  • Utilize Inventory Management Process to ensure finished goods inventory meets targets.
  • Conduct monthly OSHA compliance training with EH&S Coordinator and Area manager.
  • Engage safety committee in promoting safety programs/initiatives.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 5+ years leadership experience in an industrial environment leading multiple departments.
  • Associate degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Production or related field or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years' demonstrated manufacturing supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and allocate resources.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven track record of developing, implementing and utilizing processes and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of effective and efficient production and manufacturing methods.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated successful application of managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated skills or knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical ability.
  • Ability to operate a computer and supporting software packages.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively implement change.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and lead teams.
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict.
  • Bilingual a plus (Spanish/English).
