The Production Manager position at NBC Sports, part of Comcast, is a pivotal role that reports directly to the Director of BIG 10 Operations. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing production projects across various settings, including on-site events, home base operations, and studio environments. The Production Manager serves as a crucial communication link between Remote Operations Management and the production teams, ensuring that all aspects of production are coordinated effectively. This includes liaising with arena, stadium, and tournament personnel to manage logistics such as mobile unit schedules, generator needs, equipment levels, internet requirements, and security arrangements. In addition to logistical coordination, the Production Manager is tasked with hiring and managing payroll for support crews, ensuring that all production costs are accounted for and that bills are paid in a timely manner. The role also involves executing and publishing the show's Production Memo, which outlines all logistical details for the production. When working in the studio, the Production Manager is responsible for managing crew schedules and supporting the needs of production and talent, collaborating closely with studio Technical Managers. The Production Manager will primarily focus on the Big Ten but will also engage with other NBC Sports properties as needed. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to handle multiple production projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines and changing circumstances. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the production process in sports television and be adept at using Microsoft Office Suite and other production-related tools.
